Born in 1973, José
Luis Cuevas lives and works in Mexico City. After studying marketing and
advertising design, he worked in an agency before opting exclusively for
photography. As a student at the Centro de la Imagen in Mexico City, he
attended workshops directed by such luminaries as Graciela Iturbide, Cristina
García Rodero, Charles Harbutt and Arthur Tress. He is currently in charge of
the Gimnasio de Arte y Cultura, a training ground for young artists founded in
2007.
